Crimson - Infestation

Crimson - Infestation.jpeg

Crimson is a thrash metal band all the way from the United States. These 4 dudes produce thrash metal with a twist. That twist is commonly known as Hair Metal. It isn't the ordinary thrash metal you know from old Metallica or the new bands like Essence or Suicidal Angels, they make it their own and it is really a good mix of two different genres. This is their first EP and I am glad that they contacted me to review their EP.

The 4-track EP 'Infestation' starts off with the song 'I Stand Tall'. It starts with an intro that could have been on a Megadeth album. It is almost sounds the same. The fact that I don't like Megadeth doesn't mean that I don't like this. This sounds cool and brutal. The melodic singing reminds me immediately of Iron Maiden. That is the way to describe this music. A mix between those 2 bands.

The second song 'Silver Lining' is where the hair metal influences emerge. The slow riffing and singing together create a vibe that sounds to me like hair metal. The soloing could have been from a Mötley Cruë album which is awesome. All together it creates the own sound that Crimson likes.

'Infestation' is the 3rd song of the EP. This sounds more like a Heavy Metal song instead of a Thrash Metal song to me.  Sadly but I had more expectations from this song because its the title track of the EP.

The final song of the EP is called 'Life Gets In The Way'. This is the type of thrash metal I like. The more Metallica side of Thrash Metal. The instrumental bit is good but it I have the feeling that Crimson can do more than this. When the songs goes upbeat, it sounds perfectly together. Id like to hear more of that Crimson instead of Heavy Metal Crimson.

I give this Crimson - Infestation a 7 out of 10 because it has too many different genres in the EP. Maybe because they haven't found their sound yet but when they play fast and 'Thrashy' they sound amazing.
