Epicardiectomy - Putreseminal Morphodysplastic Virulency

These Czech Republic based slam death guys have produced 3 demo’s, 1 split and including ‘PMV (Putreseminal Morphodysplastic Virulency)’ 2 full length albums. Signed to the massive Coyote Records, Epicardiectomy has amazing company of bands like Bowel Stew and Demented.
I can’t deny that Epicardiectomy has a big fan base around the world. They’ve played many big festivals like Obscene Extreme Festival and Mountains Of Death. Sadly I missed them at the Dutch festival Neurotic Deathfest because the room was overly crowded. ‘PMV’ has a slamming 8 songs on it. You can say that this is my first international known big band.
As like many other (slam) brutal death bands like to start with an creepy/gory intro piece, Epicardiectomy is not an exclusion. After a long but interesting intro the song ‘Horrendous Festering Transmutations’ starts with some epic blast beats. The low guttural voice of Tom Verner merges along the slamming tunes that they primarily use on most of the songs on ‘PMV’.
After listening to the following 2 songs ‘Embalmed In Mephitic Placental Substance’ and ‘Gluttonous Cannibalistic Ferocity’ I can say that Epicardiectomy really gives slam death metal fans what they need.
With some gory and horrifying sounds through the songs, Epicardiectomy have put out a record which makes you want to go nuts and go insane. ‘Deranged Self-Mutilating Emasculation’ is de 4th song and after like the previous songs you would say they would go for a full on brutal death song, Epicardiectomy thought differently. They just want to make you slam and go absolutely insane. Like they say it their selves, zombie slamming. Walk slowly and headbang slowly with the whole your body. ‘Gorging On Fetal Innards’ has the biggest slam breakdown on the whole album. Absolutely insane work by Epicardiectomy. Sadly to say is that they use a bass-drop on almost every slam breakdown. However on cd this might sound annoying (or anything in that way), but live I am sure that they make it more convincing.
‘Masticate The Sinned’ is a song that makes more of a brutal death impression on me instead of a slamming impression, even though the first part is slam. It is also the shortest song on the whole album, 2.58. The second to last song is by far my favourite ‘Deformed To Shapeless Cadaver’. They seemed to pull it off the whole album but everything Epicardiectomy loves, they’ve put it in this song. Last song ‘Feculent Colostomy’ could have been a song in the middle of the album. With that I mean is that some bands have songs where they put all the effort in and the less song they put on the end of albums. Epicardiectomy doesn’t work like that. They let everybody know that this is their style of music and this is how they do it.
End verdict is: Epicardiectomy have found their sound. On the last album, they had to find their exact sound and style and now they have found it. They have created an amazing album which makes you want to go to one of their gigs and destroy the place. A fat 9 out of 10 for this tank of an album. \m/
