Yaotzin - Chaosbringer

Yaotzin - Chaosbringer.jpg

My second black metal band that I will review. Again it is a black metal band from my own country The Netherlands. This time it's Yaotzin from Alkmaar, North Holland. It is their 3rd EP 'Chaosbringer' and has 4 songs on it. The band exists since 1995 and overall it is their 15th release. Their record label is called Zwaertgevegt which have a big name in the Dutch black metal scene.

The first song on this EP is the title song of the EP 'Chaosbringer'. With a slow headbang-able but obscure guitar riff, Yaotzin reminds me of the old Burzum song  'The Crying Orc'. It has the same dark vibe. Simple but strong. After that the whole band reminds me of that this is pure black metal. The raw vocals of Theo gives you goose bumps. A promising start of the EP.

Up next is the song 'Malkuth'. This song is in my opinion the absolute best of the EP. The fast shredding and the melodic pieces combined makes an amazing combination. I give an example, when you heard your first metal album, you probably played the whole EP/Album immediately from the beginning to the end and you realized: He, is it already over? That is the feeling I have with this song. I just want it to go on and on.

Before we get to the last song of the EP we have the song 'Murder'. This is full on black metal. No doubt about it. You can hear that the guys from Yaotzin don't fool around in making a black metal record. The years of experience have let to creating their own amazing and obscure sound.

And ,sadly, the last song of the EP but it has the most black metal title that I've seen in months, 'The Incarnation Of Satan'. Love that song title. Again, Yaotzin makes me happy that I am a supporter of NLBM (Nederlandse Black Metal). The rawness of the last song makes me want to have more of Yaotzin. In my opinion this is a good ending of an amazing EP.

Raw, Obscure, Satan. Those are the words that would come to my mind when someone says Black Metal. Since a short period of time, I began to listen more to the black metal from my own country. Most of it is shockingly bad produced (even for black metal). I didn't have any expectations when I got this tape from Zwaertgevegt, but I am really happy that I did.

This album deserves a good grade, I give 'Chaosbringer' by Yaotzin a 9 out of 10.
