Revenge Prevails - False Hope Cruelty

Revenge Prevails - False Hope Tragedy.jpg

The new Revenge Prevails has fallen on my doorstep. The groovy blackened death metal band has released two previous releases (one EP and one full length) and now have released their second full length ‘False Hope Cruelty’.

released in the start of August 2017, the album has been out for a while. I did do a review for the two previous releases and why wouldnt i do this one as well!

The eleven track album invites us to the adventure of melodic blackened death metal. After two releases in their pocket, Revenge Prevails has got a fatter and more of a mature sound then their previous two releases.

The mid-paced track ‘Bliss is a hoax’ is filled with groovy death metal riffs. The mid-paced blackened parts mix perfecly with the death metal parts Revenge Prevails handles so well. It took me by surprise that they also went with some clean vocals this time. That does take a lot of balls to do so. It however does makes sence to put clean vocals into this blackened death metal by Revenge Prevails.

The guys (again) have done the production by themselves which is a great accomplishment because the production is really great for a independend band like Revenge Prevails. What i really like about the track ‘The Creation of Destruction Part II’ are the vocals and the guitar solo’s. The combined clean vocals of the lady and the vocalist of Revenge Prevails are excellent. They fit the song like a glove. The solo’s really make the song flow like it deserves.

If you want to get an idea how the vocals sound, you will have to think of a combination of the vocals of Carach Angren and Dimmu Borgir. Then you will have an idea what you are dealing with.

Revenge Prevails certainly has grown in this album. Listening to the album multiple times is certainly recommended. If you want to experience the album, listen to the whole album and do not listen to the album song by song.

‘False Hope Cruelty’ is a mature album and Revenge Prevail deserves all the credit for this release. Revenge Prevails isnt your run of the mill average melodic blackened death metal band, no they are able to add progressive elements in their music without losing the attention of the listeners.
