Cadaverous - Design In Blood

Cadaverous - Design In Blood.jpg

The band is formed in 2016 and haven’t released anything until now. For me it is an local band because they’re from Katwijk, Zuid-Holland. The lads give us a taste of modern day death metal with their performance of ‘Design In Blood’.

The 4-track EP popped up on my timeline when I was scrolling like always. I really liked the logo and I didn’t know that they were Dutch, let alone be local. I went to their info page and I saw that they’re Dutch so I downloaded the EP and now the tracks are blasting through my speakers.

From the beginning of the first track ‘Patricide’ you know what to expect of Cadaverous. The band plays a combination of brutal death metal mixed with modern day death metal. Mid-paced (brutal) death metal is being thrown at me and that is what I like. It has been a while since a new brutal death metal band has emerged from The Netherlands.

The second song ‘Odious Minds’ is a modern-day metal track. More technical aspects have been added and it quite suits the band. However, this song is not the style I would like to see Cadaverous continue with. There are so many Dutch bands that play this style of death metal that they might be an ‘one-of-them-all’ bands. If they want to stay unique, they will have to stay to the brutal death metal style mixed with the modern-day death metal instead of the modern-day death metal they produce on ‘Odious Minds’.

‘Autosarcophagy. The third song of ‘Design In Blood’. It features more brutal death metal style of music. Compared to the previous song, ‘Autosarcophagy’ features more of the style that fits Cadaverous. By listening to the song, the feeling of a new Dutch brutal death metal band gives me great pleasure. The band certainly knows how to produce a great brutal death metal song. Chugging riff-work fill the 3-minute song. If you know how to slam dance, you’ll be forced to do it on ‘Autosarcophagy’.

The last one of the ‘Design In Blood’ EP, is the title track of the EP. An excellent follow up of the ‘Autosarcophagy’ track. Blast beats are vital in this song so if you don’t like them please skip this one. Furthermore, is this track a great example of Cadaverous doing best of both genres combined.
