Brutus - Villains

Brutus is an Egyptian Death Metal band with hardcore punk influences. Brutus has 5 members and currently they don’t have a record label. With musicians from all around the world they make Brutal Hardcore. Their goal was to make music and release and album. They have already released a full-length album called All Roads Lead To Rome which was put out in the spring of 2010.
Now they put out an EP called Villains. This 5-track EP is their first release since All Roads Lead To Rome. The first song Snakes in Black Suits begins with a speech and a melodic clean guitar piece. After that, the 9 minute long songs begins with a strong hardcore/metalcore blast-beat. Less technical however its very similar to Despised Icon in my opinion.
Assassins is the second song on the EP and this song is more death metal which they do really good. They even put a melodic part in mid-end of Assassins. This surprised me and I would have liked it if they haven’t put that melodic (slow) part into the song.
Villains is the next song and the titel-track of the EP. This song has both genres that Brutus plays, hardcore/metalcore and Death Metal.
With influences of Morbid Angel combined with Parkway Drive you can say this record is really a hard EP to review.
This album was an eye opener for me because it was an genre that I haven’t heard of before Ahmed send me Villains to review.
I will give Brutus – Villains an 8.0/10
