This is a band on its own. This party-goregrind band has the normal bass/guitar and drums but Kaasschaaf has two singers. One for the lower gutterals and one for the higher gutterals. All the way from Arnhem, The Netherlands this is Cheesescraper (Kaasschaaf) – Punanidectomy.

 

The first time I heard this band was on a split release with the Belgium goregrind band Sickening Entertainment. When I heard one of the weird songs, I was completely sold. I booked them (in the time that I was a booker/promoter) in a local centre and I had a great blast seeing them doing their thing.

I bought the split-cd at the show (also with Sickening Entertainment) and I immediately put it on my MP3 player. After many years, Kaasschaaf released their very first disc. It is the EP ‘Punanidectomy’. First thing I see is that most of the songs have weird (Dutch) names.

 

The catchy polka riffs/drumming that Kaasschaaf produces are amazing. You can headbang/dance perfectly on the first song Off Roady and other songs like Fistfuck,Wriststuck. It is guaranteed that Kaasschaaf makes a party out of every song on this EP. The double vocals of Maarten and Sjors are simply perfectly balanced throughout the EP. Probably the best one of all the songs is the 10 second song called ‘AU!!!!’. It is about the famous Dutch death metal icon Martin van Drunen who is going downstairs in his pink morning robe and bumping his toe against the coffee table.  

 

That kind of level of lyrics you know that this is going to be a good EP. And it was. It has been filled with nasty topics about fat chicks and poop. With that in the back of your head, you have to listen to this one. This is going to be in my favourite top 5 albums of 2015 for sure.

 

With Punanidectomy finished this concludes that this is probably the best debut of a grindcore band that I’ve heard in a loooong while. Every freaking song is a separate party of its own and a goddamn good party it is. A record never reaches 10 out of 10 for me but this Punanidectomy is coming close to perfection. Kaasschaaf – Punanidectomy is a 9.5 out of 10.
